Migrate Cisco Unity Connection to the new virtualization environment



Cisco Unity Connection 8.6.2 Publisher server at HQ office was in a shared visualization environment on the HP Blade Enclosure which has experienced random hardware issues. Decision has been made not to progress any further on HP Blade Enclosure hardware. This is the procedure I have used for migrating CUC Publisher server to the new and dedicated virtualization cluster.

Cisco recommended specs

CUC 8.6

Component & Capacity Point vCPU vRAM vDisk vNIC Supported Hardware – 3rd-party Specs-based on Intel Xeon
between 1000 – 5000 users 2 6 GB 1 x 200 GB 1

-CPU: Intel Xeon E7-2800, E7-4800, E7-8800, E5-2600 v2, E5-2600, E5-4600, E5-2400, 7500, 5600

-Physical RAM: 2-4GB required for VMWare vSphere, plus the sum of UC virtual machines’ vRAM

-UC does not support physical memory over-subscription i.e. 1GB of vRAM must equal 1GB of physical RAM
