SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Homeowners concerned over privacy on Google maps have a new solution.
Google automatically blurs faces and license plates, and now has an option to let users blur their homes.
“If your house is more difficult to burglarize than the house next door to you, it’s going to be the last house burglarized,” homeowner Walt Babigian said.
Homeowners have expressed concern that would-be burglars could use Google’s Street View to scope out hiding spots and entry points.
“You don’t know when Google goes by your house and takes a picture, so you can’t prep ahead of time,” Babigian said.
Users can click the ‘report a problem’ button under the Street View image to ask Google to blur the image.
