Using Apache Maven Build Environment in Eclipse

Eclipse is a very good IDE for software development. Apache Maven is a software project management and comprehension tool. Based on the concept of a project object model (POM), Maven can manage a project’s build, reporting and documentation from a central piece of information. Essentially when a project needs to reference to a lot of 3rd party libraries (e.g open source codes), Maven helps resolve all dependency issues efficiently. More and more open source projects are migrating to using Maven.

1. Install Maven plugin for Eclipse

1.1 open eclipse, under « help->Install New Softeare… »,

1.2 add « http://download.eclipse.org/technology/m2e/releases » in « Work with:  »

1.3 « select all » when « Maven Integration for Eclipse » showed up under the « name/version » window

1.4 keep all default settings and click  « Next » till « Finish »,

1.5 click on « OK » if security window pop up, and click « Restart » when installation finish window pop up.

1.6 check the installation status:
