Caldwell Residents Fed Up With Barrage Of Baseballs From Nearby Park

CALDWELL, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Some New Jersey residents say they are fed up with one of their neighbors.

As CBS 2’s Tracee Carrasco reported, it looks like hail damage — round dents on the hoods, roofs, and trunks of cars in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Caldwell, N.J. — but the damage is not from baseball-sized hail. It’s actually from baseballs.

« I have a couple dents in my roof and last month my windshield got smashed, » said Joe Lastella.

« I noticed a dent in my car, » Ann Manna said.

Residents living in the complex on Roseland Avenue say since the ball park at the Kiwanis Oval opened in 2010 they’ve collected countless stray baseballs and softballs that fly over the fence, breaking windows of their homes and damaging their cars.
