Rangers To Attend Funeral Of St. Louis’ Mother After East Finals Opener

GREENBURGH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Rangers will be all business for the opener of the Eastern Conference finals on Saturday.

The next day will be rough, win or lose. Martin St. Louis will be burying his mother, France St. Louis, in Montreal and the Blueshirts will attend as a team.

Funeral plans had been made for Saturday, and the Rangers were unable to change the starting of Game 1 that day because of television commitments for NBC.

« Marty, being who he is, was able to move the funeral to Sunday, » Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said Thursday. « So, Sunday, as a team we’ll be able to attend his mother’s funeral. Hopefully, we’ll play a good game Saturday and get ready for the next one after. »
